"LTF" Lagoona Twin-fin
     high-performance model
Available 5'6"-6'6"

Picture

Price $545.00
All the rage in the late 70's into the early 80's, the Twin-fin was the choice
for the advanced surfer. MR won four consecutive world titles
on a similar design.

The twin fin surfboard offers increased speed
and maneuverability while also being more
stable than a single fin. This board design also
produces a looser board than a thruster.

Twin fins offer a maneuverable and fast ride
to surfers. Their quickness and ability to make
sharp turns makes them a great choice for
small conditions, but they can also be used in
medium sized clean surf.

Revamped for modern surfing, this board has modern,
relaxed rocker, concave bottom, and a nice, over-all
foil.
The fins have been moved back compared to the original designs.

This board also features a purposely placed wing to make this baby
turn on a dime.

Lots of volume in the nose for floatation making it quicker
for faster take off’s. Having a flatter bottom for increased speed
and have and greater maneuverability than a short board.
Ideal for surf around 1 to 3 foot surf.

Comes standard with glass-on Twin-fins. But can be ordered
with a removable fin system as well.

Also now available in the "Retro Version". Flatter rocker, slightly fuller nose, flat deck, and beaked nose.

"HK" Hex Key
Available 5' 4"- 6'0"

Picture
The "HK" or the Hex Key.

Original Hitchcock template, narrowed all the way around.
5'6" x 17.0" x 20.5" x 17.5" 2.37" Blank made by myself and Hand-shaped.
The Hitchcock is a small wave beast. Works great on mushy slopey waves, yet has trouble with steeper waves with the wider nose. So I increased the rocker in both the nose and tail, and foiled the nose and tail thinner. Taking some design cues from other more parallel boards but not as drastically straight, I kept it a little curvier.
Curvy means turney.
Keeping with the geometric theme, I left the bottom lower rail beveled (Ben Aipa influence) and left nose and tail kinda beveled as well. The board also has some rail channels to stiffen rail. (Love Handles).

Besides the obvious outline change, this board will feature my "Torsion Drive" Stringer system. Based on Torsional flex, the split stringer ends directly under the riders rear foot. This enables it to flex from rail to rail. Not only does this produce forward drive, it also allows the stringerless last bit of the tail to flex during turns.
More info. here http://www.barrysnyderdesigns.com/torsional-propulsion--torsion-drive-stringers.html

The bottom contours are similar to the Hitchcock. shallow centre concave to double with a fair amount of Vee to allow the wider tail to go on rail. (turning). Board also has a Bi-plane to Tri-plane hull design added in there as well. Pretty complex bottom.
This featured board is a Poly blank, yet will be glassed with Epoxy. Not to sure about fin set-up yet. I really want to make it a Tri-fin design and minimize fin boxes to allow tail to fully flex. We'll see. Board will be available in many different options.

Retro Twin-Fin. (Think Larry Bertleman on rail cutting back.)
This board design gained popularity in the 1970s and originates from the knee-board.  It is shorter, wider and flatter than a shortboard and works very well in small mushy surf.  There is not much curve in the rocker of a fish, which makes it paddle very well and carry speed through flat sections of the wave.
Handshaped
Wing-Swallow Tail or no-wings (fuller tail-block).
Shallow single concave to double, with some Vee off the tail.
Low Rocker. Very fast.

This board has been described as the Swiss army knife of all my models.
A fish outline combined with a performance shortboard.
Outline has a wide nose. But not too wide.
Tail is all shortboard. Thin rails. Sharp edge.
Rocker on bottom would be described as an "relaxed" shortboard
rocker. Lower entry rocker to a very curvy tail rocker.
Shallow single concave feeding into a double, with a little Vee out the tail.
This board is typically set up with 5 fin boxes for any fin set-up.

The "R-2"
Available 5' 6"- 6' 4"

Picture
This board is a modified version of my "Roosevelt" model. A curvy fish shape with Double Wings and a standard Swallow Tail with lots of curve. So I narrowed it up some, lost the wings, and put a semi-circular Diamond Tail.
By adding some length,(average 2") it gave it a more performance look and feel. I increased the rocker and foiled the whole tail area thinner. Think of this board as a cross between a fish, and a performance shortboard. This model will work great with any fin set-up. 3, 4, or 5 fins.

Just like the man, this is one little rebel. Full nose for catching plenty of waves, tail is all business.

Bottom contours are a shallow concave to double between fins. Much like many of my wider-tailed boards, it also has a bit of Vee to ease in turning.

This is a medium rockered board with a bit of flip in the tail for turning tight.

Thin, shortboard rails.
Tail is thin and can be changed to many shape options.

Board comes standard with 5-Fin box set-up. Board to right is shown with 2+1 fin set-up.

Nose 17.25"

Center 21.0"

Tail 15.25"

This is the Groveler of the series. Small wave machine.
Handshaped.
Sort of an 80's outline with modern rails & contours.
This shortboard has the lowest rocker of all my models.
Like the Motorhead song...Fast and Loose!
Plenty of hidden volume.
Tail is the widest of the series. Thicker tail block and
rounder rails. Very skatey. The air guys love this thing.
Deep Single Concave to Vee out the tail.
Wide point 1" forward of center.

This board is unstoppable in mushy to clean, knee to head high conditions.

The MacArthur
Performance Shortboard

Available 5'8" - 6'6"

Picture

            $545.00

Considered to be the trimmed down version of the Cash, The MacArthur is a step up in performance and maneuverability. Unlike it predecessor, it is slightly narrower beginning with a 12¾ nose, following a 19¼ mid-section while maintaining a 15" squash or optional thumb tail. Featuring a "relaxed" lower entry rocker, the MacArthur runs a 4” nose + 1 ¾ tail rocker. A single concave nose leading to a double concave between a thruster fin setup, finishing off with a squash or thumb tail, bridges the gap between functionality and performance in all conditions and sizes of swell.

Good "all-arounder". It fits very well between the "Cash" and the Hi-performance "Varney".

6'4" WPF XL
2+1 Fin set-up
Available 5'6"-6'6"

Picture
Wide Point Forward (WPF)
Wide point is up 3 1/2". Super curvy.
This board is a throw back to the time when
front footed surfing was in. Steering with your front foot
and getting barreled deep.
Combined with the outline is modern bottom contours and rails.
Lots of volume within. This board is for bigger guys.(Shaper approved).
Slight Concave to Vee off the tail.
Put some style in your surfing game! Smooth out your style.
The WPF is the most versatile board in the  range. It has a high amount of volume under the chest which enables it to paddle like a dream. The way you surf the WPF is on the open face, where you draw fast flowing lines.

The outline resembles an old school twin fin in the nose, yet it draws back to a tight rounded pin tail. The wider straighter outline up front will give you plenty of speed, yet the round pin tail allows you to turn tight in the pocket.

The rocker is flat throughout, although there is a little extra lift in the entry, which helps when taking off late or turning in the steeper sections of the wave. The design of the rocker is focused around speed! You will find you will make sections that you never expect to make.

The foil has plenty of volume around the chest and center area of the board, yet it refines out to a thinner, pinched rail to keep the board connected to the wave. The concave runs from a rolled vee in the entry to a slight single blending into a vee double out the tail which gives the board great speed and control from rail to rail.

You will enjoy riding it from small average conditions to clean long barreling point breaks.

The 2+1 denotes a larger center fin (for reference, larger than a thruster center fin) with 2 small to medium-small fins at a position close to thruster rail fin positions. The "sidebites" contribute some lift, control, and stability to the board when it is "on rail," arcing through turns. Typically, "sidebites" are removable, so the surfer can take them out for use in smaller waves, which gives less drag and freer turning. The 2+1 is a popular configuration for mid length to long boards.

One of the other greatest features of this board is fin options.
Single, Tri, Bonzer, or Two plus one.
Lots of options. Lots of fun.

Bonzer-   The Bonzer is a 3- or 5- array invented by the Campbell brothers in Oxnard, California in the early 1970s for the powerful waves of a well-known wave near their home. The Bonzer array is an approximately 7" center fin aft and either two or four delta-shaped fins ("runners") mounted near the rails in somewhat similar fashion to other rail fins, but they are substantially lower aspect and aggressively canted outward. The Bonzer array is firmly held to be an integral part of the Campbell brothers' overall board design featuring double concave bottom contours out the tail.

Combined with the outline is modern bottom contours and rails.
Lots of volume within. Modernized for today's surfing.

The Alfred.
Updated for '2015.
One of my best selling small wave designs.
This is my"anti-simmons model".
Most Simmons style boards just plain don't turn.
Great for just going down the line.
But at some point, you want to turn.
This board does.
Shorter outline fits well in wave.
Catches waves with ease.
Diamond Tail shortens rail-line.
Med rocker.
Pretty complex bottom. Flat to mild center Concave
to deep Double Concave inside a heavy Vee off the tail. (Spiral-Vee) This helps this board go on rail.
Bottom also features a fairly wide Beveled rail. This helps board turn and also thins rail thickness.
Thin boxy rails.
Very thin tail for a sensitive feel.
Wide point @ centre.
This 5 fin wave monster is ready for practically any condition: mushy to clean, small to head high.

More info. and pictures here.
Type of surfing done from a kneeling position, usually on a small, wide, blunt-nosed board; a popular and progressive alternative to stand-up surfing in the 1960s and '70s, but a fading practice by the '80s.

When the foam crunch of '2008 happened, many blank styles were lost forever. There are no really nice kneeboard blanks to be found. So I contacted US Blanks to glue up some blanks with added width. These are what i shape these from.

Super curvy outline, special bottom contours to make them turn on a dime.
Average width is 23.5"

Can be made with any fin configuration.

Modified from a standard egg style template, Ive turned this into a fun, well turning mid-length board. A 2+1 fin set-up. Known as a "Widowmaker" fin configuration, the forward fins have been moved back in line with the forward edge of the center fin. Making this board very pivotal.

7'6" Jethro Hull Displacement Hull
Available 7'0"- 8'0"

Picture
The experience of hull riding is in the connection with the wave flow for the rider rather than the onlooker. First of all planing. Planing is when the craft skims over the surface of the water. Displacement is when the craft ploughs it's way through the water, very much like the hull of a boat. Like it or not, pretty much all surfboards displace water to some extent. If you know of a surfboard that doesn't displace to some extent, please let me know, I'd very much like to hear from you.

Surfboards are a combination of displacement and planing hull.

This is my version of an modern Displacement Hull.

Rounded and rolled Vee bottom.
No edges.
"S" deck.
Fairly flat rocker.
Very thin tail.
